The City of Macedonia, with its residents as active participants, is a proud member of the Tinkers Creek Watershed Partners (TCWP). A significant portion of our community lies within the Tinkers Creek Watershed, and this nonprofit organization, with our collective efforts, is instrumental in helping us meet our Phase II Stormwater Requirements.
Fall’s Beauty, Efficiently Managed: Summit County Leaf Collection
YOUR ACTIONS MATTER: Rain and/or snow may delay our collection efforts. By collecting your leaves early, you are not just helping us but also contributing to the efficient leaf collection process. Remember, the same workers and trucks used for leaf collection also handle snow shoveling and salt spreading, so your early action can make a significant difference.
LEAVES IN ROWS: Place leaves in long rows, not large piles, along your lawn with trees on paved roads or the edge of the ditch or verge. If you don’t have a berm, you can place the slabs on the house side of the ditch line.
RAKE LEAVES EARLY AND OFTEN: Rain and snow delay our collection efforts, so the earlier you rake your leaves out for collection, the better the job the City can do to get them picked up efficiently.
SPECIAL NOTE: EARLY TREE AND BUSH: Remove all branches from the roadside. The brush can be packaged in 4-foot lengths weighing at most 40 pounds for collection by your waste disposal service. The garbage truck will also pick up bagged leaves or shavings left with your garbage on the regular garbage collection day throughout the year.
ALL ROWS WITHIN 10 FEET OF OBSTACLES: Place rows of slats at least 10 feet away from obstacles such as mailboxes, poles, fire hydrants, and landscaping features. These items make vacuuming leaves slower and more complex.
